About the Event
For this special day of work and practice, we are welcoming out-of-towners to arrive on Friday to join us for an evening of meditation and enjoy a peaceful rest in the dorm overnight. Please email sugarplumsangha if you'd like to stay for the night.
For our first in person event since the start of the pandemic we are so delighted to invite you to share in giving back to the land that has been a refuge and nourishment to our residential sangha during all these months of social distancing so that it can go on to be a refuge to many others as we re-open to visitors. For this special day of work and practice, we are welcoming out-of-towners to arrive on Friday to join us for an evening of meditation and enjoy a peaceful rest in the dorm overnight. We require full vaccination to stay in the dorm. Please email sugarplumsangha if you'd like to stay for the night.
The Mariposa Institute is nestled within 150 acres of beautiful oak woodlands, and they need our help to stay in balance with the encroaching Douglas Firs that threaten to breach the canopy and shade out the oak trees below. This gives us the opportunity to enjoy the wonders of nature here in this magical place, bringing our bodies into contact with the earth, our eyes into contact with the light on the lives, our ears into contact with a symphony of birdsong, and our hearts in contact with each other.
The work will be light and mindful. We need volunteers to help with moving the already cut trees into piles so they can be chipped or burned. We will enjoy mindful work, being present with our bodies and breath, enhanced with singing and eating snack and lunch provided by the sangha.
Be sure to bring good sturdy shoes, long pants, work gloves, a hat, and water bottle. Below is a schedule for the day. You are welcome to arrive at 9:00am for meditation or 9:45am for songs and introductions.
