About the event
In our daily lives, we often can get drained from doing too much, talking too much, and thinking too much. It is essential to our well-being to regularly gift ourselves nourishing rest in the three domains of body, speech, and mind. With rest, the flow of harmony will re-establish in us and concentration, insight, and mindfulness naturally return.
We often see the calming, beautiful smile on many Buddha statues - a giving of the dharma on the part of the sculptor and a receiving of the dharma by the observer, but have we consistently applied that smile in our practice? A gentle half smile is a very powerful tool in meditation and can ease us greatly in the cultivation of silence. Thus this becomes the theme of our retreat, our exploration together.
To cultivate the quietness inside and outside, together our sangha will enjoy 3 days of noble silence with several periods of walking and sitting meditation, joyful cooking in concentration and ease, and spacious personal time to be in nature, observe, feel, reflect and rest - taking refuge in each other's silent smile.
