The Sugarplum Sangha offers community and personal retreats and days of mindfulness at the Mariposa Institute in Ukiah, CA. Our retreats help us come together as a community rooted in mindful living and spiritual friendship. All are welcome to join us for a retreat and the many other community building projects we initiate.

  • Arrival on the first day of retreat is between 3:00pm - 5:30pm, and departure of the last day is 1:00pm unless otherwise specified

  • There are a men's and a women's, dorm available or retreatants may camp in their own tent. Restroom facilities are shared

  • There is one lavatory with three stalls and a shower and another one with a toilet and shower. Retreatants should bring their own towels and toiletries, blankets, and pillows

  • Mattresses, bed sheets, and pillow sheets are available

  • Cell phone service is not available and neither is wifi. A landline is available in case of emergency

  • Retreatants are also encouraged to stay within the practice center’s property for the entire retreat

Being here

  • Mariposa shares its land with a community of people, animals, plants, and minerals. Visitors practice mindfulness so that we can all retreat together in harmony

  • Please be courteous to people coming and going on the road and respectful of their private living spaces.

  • Please be compassionate to the wildlife by not tempting them in dangerous situations with food left outside the kitchen or in cars

  • All trash and recycling should be stored in their appropriate receptacles and all food scraps should be discarded in the compost pile

  • To be kind to plants and animals, please stay on the road or obvious walking trails to slow erosion and avoid any accidental encounters with poison oak

  • To practice mindful consumption, retreat coordinators will organize ride sharing. You will find a carpool link in the confirmation email sent to you after registration

  • Parking at Mariposa is limited, maintaining our road spends precious resources, and our earth appreciates fewer carbon emissions. Please use the carpool link to find a ride or offer space in your own car to a fellow retreatant. Once arrived at Mariposa, you can use the space in front of the kitchen to park and unload your things before parking your car for the duration of your stay down by the barn.

To Register for a retreat, click the registration button, fill out the form that appears, then complete payment. You will receive an email within a few days with information about the theme of the retreat, directions to Mariposa, and a packing list.

A full refund will be given for cancellations made a week before the start of the retreat. After that, a 75% refund will be given.
